Confederation of European Calligraphy |
The Confederation of European Calligraphy (CEC) was established in Daegu, Republic of Korea, in August 2003, by some Italian, Swiss and French calligraphers.
Welcoming the proposal of Professor Ruan Zonghua, teacher, calligrapher and expert in sigillography based in Beijin, an independent structure was created to promote:
the study of the calligraphic art, exchanges on mutual experiences, the cooperation in the organization of shows in Europe and the presence at exhibitions in the Far East.
CEC is a cultural, nonsectarian and non-profit organization, that deals with far east calligraphy (Chinese and Japanese); it’s not a school and, according to its charter, sets itself the following goals:
a) spreading the study of far east calligraphy through the collection, publication and diffusion of information and studies on this art;
b) promoting knowledge and cooperation between calligraphers and associations;
c) promoting the calligraphic practice through the organization of events (shows, workshops, etc.) in Europe and elsewhere.
CEC is formed by calligraphers or organizations working in Europe and joining it is compatible with the membership to other calligraphic associations.
The application form should be addressed to the general Coordinator.
The CEC membership is free; members are only asked to pay the participatory share for the events they intend to agree to.
Every year CEC offers its members the attendance to shows in the Far East and Europe. On these occasions, the choice of the works is up to the people concerned, but their acceptance is subject to the decision of the board of governors.
